Solar panels, battery storage and ‘normal’ people: Brimstone Energy says, ‘It could be you.’

In this series of blogs, we’re exploring what’s stopping more people benefitting from low-cost, sustainable energy with solar panels and battery storage.

You may have struggled to find clear information on your options. Sometimes it’s confusing. Sometimes it’s not there. Sometimes it’s just pretty negative. We get it!

You’re not alone and we’re consistently helping our customers with questions like:

  • ‘Are solar panels for ‘normal’ people like me?’
  • ‘Are solar panels worth it?’
  • ‘Can I find the right people to help me?’

Sound familiar? If so, you too are asking the right questions. Brimstone Energy answers ‘yes’ to each of these without hesitation. So, we’ve made it our mission to bring money-saving energy to more people just like you.

Mindset is key. If you haven’t read it, you might want to take a look at the first part of this blog series, ‘Is Solar and Battery Storage really for me? Part 1.’ Then circle back to read more about why we believe low-carbon electricity truly is for the many, not the few.

What is a ‘normal person’ anyway?

It would be more than foolish to try and define ‘normal.’ That’s certainly not the plan, and of course it doesn’t really exist. You might raise an eyebrow at the ‘controlled clutter’ in my garage, while I might shudder at rows of neatly labelled screws in yours. Difference is good.

But many of us will have casually described ourselves as ‘just a normal person,’ or ‘the common man (or woman),’ or maybe just ‘run-of-the-mill.’

And when it comes to low-cost energy, we’d probably give similar answers to these big questions:

  • Do you like the idea of low-carbon sustainable energy?
  • Do you want to save money on your energy bills?
  • If you could do more for the environment and your bank balance, would you?

Saving on your energy: It’s changing.

We’ve observed a common theme. Even as low-cost energy has become more accessible, we see ‘normal’ (forgive the phrase) and middle-income earners ruling themselves out of sustainable savings. Too expensive, too risky or not knowing enough are reasons we come across. Whereas, high earners or those with more disposable income are benefitting.

This is the story for many. It was the story for me. Maybe it’s the same for you. But it doesn’t sit right with those leading the charge of low-cost energy for all. It certainly doesn’t sit right with Brimstone Energy.

The good news? This doesn’t have to be the case. The financial and environmental benefits of sustainable energy don’t discriminate or forget anyone, so it’s now about you taking a step.

We’re passionate about this and have been breaking down barriers for our customers for a while now.

Low-cost energy: ‘It could be you!’

Do you remember the National Lottery marketing and its tagline… ‘It could be you!’ There’s a chance you could win big. Your pound could change everything. But of course, the odds are stacked against you and you remain with fingers crossed, hoping the deck will fall in your favour.

Not down to chance.

Installing solar panels and battery storage doesn’t work like that – this isn’t reliant on luck. You now have more power and more opportunity than maybe you realise. The benefits of low-carbon energy are known, the path is now well-trodden and energy savings are there for the taking. It’s not down to chance.

Companies like Brimstone Energy, supported by government-backed schemes like Trustmark are supporting more and more people to future-proof their energy and save money each month on their bills. Their website has lots of information about available technology and you will also find accredited solar panel installers on the MCS website. Added to this, there is still no VAT to pay on Solar Panels and Batteries through to 2027 as the momentum towards national and global energy targets continues to grow1.

To modify a popular saying, the sun shines on:

  • the tech-savvy and the technophobes
  • those with a big pot of disposable income and those with a bit less
  • all people with a roof.

Get involved. Savings with sustainable really are for the many, not the few.

Saving with solar panels and battery storage. What next?

As we’ve walked alongside customers on their way to low-cost energy, asking the tough questions has brought them peace of mind. Remember, anyone offering advice on this topic should start with the same encouragement – ask lots of questions!

We’d love to chat about what this could look like for you. Why not get in touch with us?
