Abundant supplies of cheap energy have transformed the world. Throughout the industrial revolution and into today, this has been provided by coal, oil and gas.

That infrastructure is artificially kept dormant when the sun is shining and the wind is blowing. So the overall cost trends upwards.

What interests us as consumers is the price we pay at home. And naturally we want to use energy when we need it, but don’t want to pay over the odds for it.
