Brimstone Energy UK are now installing the GivEnergy EV Charger
Introducing the brand-new GivEnergy EV charger.
A best-in-class domestic EV charger.
The GivEnergy EV charger can operate in three modes:
- Stand-alone SMART charger
- Solar divert SMART charger (compatible with any 3rd party solar inverter)
- Integrated with the GivEnergy ecosystem for SMART solar divert charging
The GivEnergy EV charger comes with a 5 meter tethered cable that has a “type-2” connection. This means that it can charge all modern Electric Vehicles.
It can charge at speeds up to 7kW.

Let’s break this down.
Stand-alone SMART charger
The charger will operate as a conventional SMART charger. You can plug in your electric vehicle at any time to receive a charge.
If you choose to do this, the charge is either initiated by an RFID card (provided) or via the GivEnergy App.
Alternatively, if you have a time of use tariff, you can set a schedule within the App to initiate a charge when the price of electricity is lowest. Commonly this will be during the night.
GivEnergy solar divert SMART charger
If your home already has a solar array installed, the GivEnergy EV Charger can operate as a solar divert charger.
This means that if your solar array is generating excess power you can choose to have this electricity stored in your vehicle, rather than exporting it to the grid.
The GivEnergy EV Charger can operate in this mode with any pre-existing Solar Array or Inverter.

With the solar divert mode customers have 2 options.
In hybrid mode, the vehicle will charge at a minimum of 1.4kW. In hybrid mode the power will come from the grid and excess solar. If excess solar exceeds 1.4kW, all the excess will be diverted into the EV, up to a maximum of 7kW. If the solar excess is below 1.4kW, the car will charge at 1.4kW.
In Solar only mode, the car will only charge from excess solar power at a minimum of 1.4kW. If the excess solar is below 1.4kW the vehicle will not be charged.
GivEnergy Ecosystem

The GivEnergy EV Charger forms an integrated part of the GivEnergy ecosystem. Along with your Solar and Home Battery Storage system, the EV Charger is controlled within the same App. The charger can be operated via an App/RFID card-initiated charge, a pre-programmed schedule or by taking excess solar.
When the EV Charger operates in Hybrid mode and receives a minimum of 1.4kW charge irrespective of the size of the solar excess, the home storage battery will effectively buffer the electricity flow into the vehicle.
